Hol et al...It seemed to me that the "whatever it was" on the east side of the depot at Forest City which I IDd as the OI appears to me to be, as you suggested some kind of "trolley car affair. I wasn't aware that there seems to be other evidence, as you referrenced, a view from the other end of the Oregon Depot...(which I have never seen) that it might be as you have suggested. BTW if you are familiar with my book "5 Miles of Family Ties" a history of the Rock Port Langdon and Northern, you might recall that we used a sketch representation of what both Jim Reisdorff and I speculated was the first locomotive for the RPL&N which was of the "trolley car" kind of thing.
Louis asked about Q trains at FC in another post so I'll address that here.
As far as I know the lineup was like this "forever" up until the retrenchment of the passenger trains beginning in the 1960's
Northbound in the morning was No. 27 which was a KC-Omaha Train...would have been due at FC around 11:15am or so and had a scheduled stop...Right on his block was No. 41 headed for Table Rock, Wymore and Lincoln. This train would stop at FC, but made more local stops and would head onto the Wymore Division at Napier.
Late afternoon would be KC - Omaha Trailn 21..later becoming the SS Zephyr. Probably FC about 4:30pm.
Night train..mostly mail was No 23 KC - Omaha...FC about 2:00am.
My guess is that the Q northbound train in the photo is either No. 27 or 41...due late morning.
The large number of "folks" on the platform suggests to me that all of some, at least, of them are transfering to the OI for a trip up to Oregon which was and is the County Seat of Holt County.
Pete

The attached image from the other end of the depot at Oregon appears to show a trolley-like motor car of some kind rather than a steam train. Note the Adams Express Company sign on the end of the depot; that Q also used Adams at this time.

Rick - I "think" this is the Oregon, MO, depot image that Pete is talking about:
It shows a 4-4-0. I had the same question as you after reading Pete's post, could the 4-4-0 shown be ex-B&MR or Q? Looks to be a pretty old locomotive. What say the locomotive historians in our Group? Best Regards - Louis
