John,

I believe it had been a freight house. It certainly looked like one. I may have a photo of it taken at the time that I rode the train. If I find it, I will post it. The area around Second and Franklin (or Carr), was nothing more than a freight yard. It was poorly set up for handling passenger loading and unloading. The Q moved out of St. Louis Union Station sometime in the late 1950's. If train nos. 47 and 48 were still running at that time, they would have left from that station.

Is there a picture anywhere of this station and was it also used as a freight house?  I think this is the station that was also used by Numbers 47 and 48 that passed through my hometown of Canton Illinois.
