Thanks for the information.  Numbers 47 and 48 were pulled off my senior year in high school.  They also used to run another pair of trains over the line through Canton.  Did those trains ever use Union Station in St. Louis?

Concerning Carr Street.  There was no depot at this location.  There was a driveway so the headend business could loaded to and from trucks.  If memory serves this was also the passenger "platform".  No shelter, no nothing.  I rode #48 once from Galesburg to St. Louis via Canton.  There was a freight house and it was just south of where the Nos. 47,48,1 and 44 started/ended.  The one nice thing about Carr Street was that a St. Louis Public Service trolley line looped about 50 yards west of the "station".

Is there a picture anywhere of this station and was it also used as a freight house?  I think this is the station that was also used by Numbers 47 and 48 that passed through my hometown of Canton Illinois.

Sorry, "Cass" was my error. However, looking at the Official Guide for that time period in 1961, the St. Louis departure station has no name, but is shown as located at Second and Franklin Streets. There is no reference to Carr Street.
