Tom,
This is really great stuff, I would never have been able to do this by myself.
I have been torn trying to keep true to a 3 digit numbering system for my power
but it does not work out very well. Here is an insight into how I see my
version of the "Q" with it power.
I have planned the following locomotive groups:
GP7 (planning on converting them to GP10's)
SD7
SD9 Both of these are in very limited numbers, thinking of heavy yard
swtiching service.
GP30-3 Rebuilt from GP30, new power, electrical, traction motor, etc
GP35-3 Rebuilt from GP35, same as above
GP38-2
GP40-3 Rebuilt from GP40, same as above
GP60 Used in dedicated 400 mile Intermodal service
GE8-40B
SD40-2
SD 45-3 Rebuilt from SD45, Divisional Freight trains
SD50 Rebuilt into modern SD40E
SD60 (standard cab) Divisional Freight trains
SD60M
SD70M
SD75I
GE 9-44CW
GE 4400
GE AC4400 Heavy grain, coal, ore
GE ES44AC Heavy grain, coal, ore
I am using SW1000, SW1500, MP1500 for light yard use and yard industry work.
Plan is to keep most yard power in Black Bird paint scheme.
Road power with Standard Cab will be Chinese Red
EMD/GE power with Wide Cab will be painted Black Bird
Any other suggestions I am all open for.
Let me ask you about freight cars. Do you think the "Q" would have kept the
Chinese Red for modern freight cars or reverted back to the industry standard
box car brown?
