It might interest you to know that no head end crew member on any railroad ever survived a gasoline truck collision until Amtrak hit a gasoline truck in Florida, a few years ago and in that one the baggageman was burned to death. The IC lost their first black vice president when he was riding in an E unit cab of a passenger train and they hit a tanker. Over the years, I was fortunate enough to get many cab rides and I always dreaded seeing a tank truck and in this part of the country, in those years, tank trucks carrying crude oil were common. If you don't know it "live" crude oil is as explosive as gasoline.
