John as to "live" crude oil being explosive with the number of unit trains of the stuff moving every day it's only a matter of time. That is probably one of the driving forces in the new proposed rule under study that would require extensive retrofitting of existing tank cars to haul class 2 flammables of which ethanol and crude are part of the group. I believe the rule went into effect for tanks built new for 286K dervice as of last year.

 

Rule would require pool fire protecting insulation, top and bottom vavle protection,head shields,etc.
