The realignment of the south main track happened in conjunction with the reconstruction of the Washington St. underpass. Mains 2 and 3 were at wide centers at the bridge, and the center platform extended west of the bridge slightly. Reconstruction of the bridge presented an opportunity to straighten Main 3, remove the center platform, and construct a wider platform on the south side of Main 3. I seem to recall that reconstruction of the bridge occurred in 1984. Or it may have been 1982, the same year that the crossovers at the east and west ends of Lisle and Naperville were installed.
There are/were wide track centers between Mains 2 and 3 at Belmont and Lisle also. The wide centers at Lisle are still there, but I believe they have been removed at Belmont with the recent grade separation of Belmont Road.
Incidently, when the 4th main was present between Downers Grove and Eola, from 1930 to 1934, there were also wide track centers at all three stations, between the removed north main and present Main 1.

Subject: [CBQ] Naperville Train Station
In a book I recently purchased had a picture of the Naperville train station. I was surprised to see that there was a track right up against the station itself and a platform between the souhtern most track and the middle track. I am not sure how the Q numbered them, north to south as 1 2 3 or south to north as 1 2 3. The platform also had a roof over it to provide some shelter from rain and snow. When did the Q remove this platform and, from what I can see, realign the tracks?
