No, there were E7, E8 and E9 type locos painted silver. All 16 of the "Q" E9s
received M-K "butchering/downgrading" in 1973 when BN paint was applied (BN
9910-9925). Late 1973 thru Dec. 1974, 5 "Q" E8 locos were "hacked-on" by M-K,
raising HP from 2250 to 2400 (BN 9900-9904). In both groups, the 567 engine
block was maintained but 645 power assemblies were installed.

I wonder when all units were green.

When they left Boise, ID Feb, 1973/Dec, 1974

And I assume those consists didn't have electric brakes.

I'll assume you are refering to the "Q" units; YES, they did NOT have electric
brakes but did have wonderful "straight air".

Wonder about the air brake set-up on the unit (old style lap?)

All "Q" E units were equipped with 24RL brakes with "straight air"; after M-K,
NYAB model PS-68 automatic with electric "assist".

I'll stop here without any further comments about the M-Ks.

Bob
