While it's possible that GN or NP units could have operated on the "Main Line" (2nd' Sub.), I do not recall ever seing any doing so. As mentioned, Mendota-Denrock trains could have easily had GN/NP power in the consist. Prior to the merger however, I don't recall seeing NP power as far east as Clyde.
