I had not looked at the picture in many years and I had forgotten the caption. Maybe it is early stages of dementia. The caption, of course, is correct.

I’m interested to know why you feel this is not the Expo, or at least a section of the Expo.

 

I’ve always accepted the caption, and here are my reasons:

 

• the pair of E5’s on the head end
• an express car (which I agree is out of place)
• a Q baggage car
• what appears to be a Q 6100 series coach
• what appears to be two WP 300 series coaches as the 4^th & 5^th car
• a Q Budd coach with its roof still blackened
• I’m not able to identify the 4 Pullmans
• the tail car appears to be a 600 series WP Lounge-obs

No, this was a long train made up of heavy weight cars. I thought maybe the American Royal (not Zephyr) or the day train from KC before the KCZ.
