I have  always heard the K&D be refuther to as the Keokuk and Des Moimes of the 
rock island hertiage and the ran parrelle to the Des Moines river and did not 
have to cross it to get into Keokuk

Duncan, Do you have Bernie Corbin's K&W book?  Page 29 may help sort  
out a little of the question.  It seemed to be a joint ownership  
between the K&W and the StLK&NW.  Archie
