I can remember this crash from the coverage by the Chicago newspapers, 
even though I was only 11 at the time.

One thing that has always itched me was the scheduling.  Why would the 
Burlington put the heavy head-end work ahead of the Flyer?  With a one 
or two minute headway to Omaha, aren't you testing fate to put the 
slower train in front of the faster?
