Steve-
IIRC the accident in question left the car even if the fluting was peeled off.
The Bombardier cars are monocoupe (sp???) construction where the skin is the
car structure.... if you peel off the skin you got nothin' left except the
passenger's body parts.

sjl asked, "If the cabs are being removed from the ex-Q cab cars, what are
they using for cab cars these days?"
The Metra Japanese designed cars that have less crash-worthiness than the
Budd cars they are replacing.
The tuition for the Naperville Wreck lessons may have to be paid for again.
At least Metra doesn't operate any of those tin-foil construction Bombardier
Canadian bilevels that the BNSF
commuter services people love so much. After seeing what happens to them when
one runs into a car, much less a locomotive, I'd never ride in one, especially
at the head end of a train.
They literally shredded apart in the two incidents in California.
