Reading the emails on train orders has been most interesting. As I review some
of the orders that I copied during my days on the BN "dark territory" between
Lincoln, NE and Forrest City, MO, I notice that the TOs do not have no Form 31
numbers in the upper corners; the only form number is a "Form 15108 1-76"
printed in the lower left hand corner that I presume refers to the contract
number and date of printing. Am rather curious as to when "31" disappeared
from the yellow flimsy!
Also, I have several sets of TO's from Carling Tower in Lincoln composed of the
Clearance Form, yellow flimsy's and zerox copies of slow orders, equipment
tie-ups, et.al., again with no Form numbers.
As an aside, I have been collecting TOs from different railroads in the area
and have noticed some variances such as a C.St.P.M.&O Railway who was using a
blue Form 19 from the WWII years. Another "Omaha Road" Form 31 included the
date typed as "APRIL 16TH-43."
The most interesting TOs I have are some from the Quincy, Omaha & Kansas City
Railroad Co. that are handwritten in 1918. The operator must have taken a
Caligraphy course as his writing is a work of art.
Hope this adds to discussion.
