Scott and all,
I've found the Walters cars are a deeper color and that the Branchline lighter
I prefer the Branchline they look closer to what I remember. When put together
the Walthers looks new and unweathered while the Branchline looks like it has
been out in the sun a while and bleached out.

Your reference to the availability of many of the same cars from both
suppliers is what prompted my initial inquiry to the list. By the way,
I meant to also ask if those who have cars from both suppliers or have
seen the cars from both feel a mix of these cars from both Branchline
and Walthers would look compatible with each other?

One thing I failed to mention - Walthers has the superior
  interior (though
has crappy "glass), and the body is difficult t o disassemble).

BTW, they are doing at least 4 of the same cars, which is really

frustrating at this point...given the variety and the
  possibilities out
there, especially in terms of cars that could have been of use
  for the
Pullman Pool of post 1948 time frame.
