Any car(tri-level) or pick-up truck(bi-level) from the
early 60's til the cars were side paneled or enclosed.
That actually came after BN(3/3/70) merger. Ford
would mix their farm tractors with trucks on the
bi-levels. On tri-levels the top deck was where the
station wagons were loaded because they needed an inch
or so of more top room. If they were on a lower deck
and the tie-down chains came loose even aa little the
car roofs would be dented or scratched, plus many
wagons had roof racks. I lived during the 60' near
the St. Paul Ford plant and saw some weird loads over
the years. Even some topless cars that did not clear
bridges someplace(east I assume). The Ford plant would
re-shuffle the loads and add their own production,
then outship full cars westbound. The plant was
shitched by Milw. Rd. using FM Trainmasters and
Baldwin road switchers MU'd, or pairs of FM T-m's. I
think every railroad had cars in the Ford pool. The
new Milw. Rd. Society magazine has an excellant
article on St. Paul/Mineapolis and shows an aerial
photo of the Ford complex. Today the plant makes
Ranger pick-ups(only plant in U.S.A.). CY
