The Hallmark Silver Charger was evidently designed from the Al Kamm drawings
that appeared in RMC many years ago, which were similar to the Budd general
arrangement sketches. The Silver Charger rode on a welded A-1-A truck,
which is speculated to be the prototype truck for all the General Steel
Casting A-1-A Blomberg trucks used on E Units from the EA thru E9. No model
has had the correct sideframes to date....
No history of this truck exists but it probably was tested under something
before the cast versions were commissioned..... but it couldn't be the
Silver Charger as it was started well after the first EAs were in operation.
Maybe the 511 or 512 boxcabs before they were converted to MP
roadswitchers??
