Forget the 9949A--what about 9949B. My records show it to be an E7A
built in 9/47 (in a group of 10 E7A's 9926A&B--9930A&B).
The E8A's were numbered 9937B, (9937A being the last E7A) 9938A&B--
9948A&B and the 9949A. But E7A 9949B was shoe-horned in between the
E8A's and the E5's (starting with 9950A).
My records don't explain this oddity but my GUESS is that it may be
the 9929A--one of the 9/47 E7A's. I show pre-merger retirement dates
or BN#'s for all of this series of E7A's except the 9929A. Was this
a wreck rebuild? Anybody know for sure?
