I entered the Army in 1953 starting in Minneapolis. We were taken by bus to
Fort Sheridan, IL for induction. Then we were sent to Fort Riley, KA, for Basic
Training. We rode the Electric Line from Fort Sheridan to Chicago and somehow
to the Union Station. From there we went by train, and I do not remember which
railroad, to Fort Riley. It was not a troop train but a regular passenger train
but we may have been in a "special car". All of my travels after that were by
airplane except for the "ocean cruises" to and from Korea.

Subject: [BRHSlist] Troop Trains on the Q
Need some help from some of the older, wiser members of the list. During the
Korean "Conflict," did the Q have any troop trains that would have originated
in Chicago (read Chicago Union Station) and headed west/south?
It would make for a fascinating model.
Thanks,
Rich
