I've had several emails tonight. I wanted to clarify something regarding
this process. It is a vacuum plating process, not a painting process. It
must be performed with specialized equipment.
The process occurs in a vacuum chamber. The model is charged electrically
and a vapor containing metal particles is introduced into the chamber.
Because of the electrical charge of the part to be plated the metal
(aluminum) in the vapor adheres to the special electro- conductive paint
that is applied by the plater to the model. When the model is placed in the
vacuum chamber the vapor, electrons, and some plain old Mr. Wizard science
makes it all work. This is how you got chrome plastic knobs in your car.
Only the finish is extremely fine. No detail is lost.
The contact info for:
Chrome-Tech U.S.A.

I'll have to dig for the Canadian company. I've heard favorable comments
from both. I would try both before committing to a large project.
Good luck.

Randy
