Charlie'
I hear ya' and don't argue with your approach. I'm not as particular as I
should be about how accurate the detail is on a loco or boxcar (or waycar.
I've scratch-built a whole fleet of Burlington waycars because I wanted them
to look Burlington). I have a "tongue-in-cheek" RR. Some of my equipment
goes on the NG (Nebulus Gnarl) roster, so I operate two RR companies. The NG
has aquired a character of its own. Burlington operations have only Q power
and waycars. I've always been pleased that, to me, all of these units look
like real Burlington. I haven't ever been driven to be concerned about
detail beyond checking the roster and putting appropriate numbers on the
sides and number boards. It doesn't bother me that the jewels I put on the
running lights aren't the right color. I have a drawer full of lengths of
pipe and other fittings that have come off my brass engines that I haven't
bothered to put back on because it doesn't concern me enough to spend the
time necessary to figure out where they fell off of. I do spend a lot of
time on the works, making the engines run good. I'm particular about making
everything run right.
