Wonder why the AAR banned riveted tank cars from the rails? They leaked as they got older because the buff and draft, bouncing around and couplings would eventually loosen the rivets. One night while

Speaking of "leakers"...see it just keeps "pinging back and forth" I'm sure it happened at every mainline fuel rack, but I vividly recall than when I and a few..not railfans but willing to come along

What was the last date that riveted tank cars were allowed by the AAR to be used? Were they banned just for interchange to other railroads, or banned altogether? Could they be retained by the home ro

I know they can still be used in captive service. I know of one shortline that is using one for diesel fuel storage. They have an air operated pump on it to fuel their locos. Dale Dale Grice ________
