To the list and Leo, When did tank cars with 3 compartments like the Athearn model car become a thing of the past. I assume these were used in the gasoline trade to haul different grades of gasoline

SD38-2's were 6 axle with 6 wheels per truck as opposed to GP38-2's which were 4 axle locomotives. The SD38-2 basically resides in a SD40-2 body with a different fan arrangement on top. I don't recal

Duncan, Use brake fluid to strip the car. It won't wreck the car. Just remember you'll have to do a good cleaning afterward with detegent and water and let the thing dry good before painting. K.T.
