3 dome tanks

To the list and Leo,

When did tank cars with 3 compartments like the Athearn model car become a 
thing
of the past. I assume these were used in the gasoline trade to haul 
different grades of gasoline at the same time? I thought an answer to this 
might help others put these cars in the proper era as well.
