I have an S-2 I bought new and it has been a good runner all these years. I have not replaced the motor but would like to (Eric if you could mention what motor you used I would appreciate it). One thing I did do was replace the driver springs with softer springs and I more than doubled the number of cars I could pull.

Thanks for the detailed reply, Eric! I found one of the LMB S-2a's you mentioned. With can motor, for a bit over $300. Now I just have to get my wife to agree...
