I did not live on a CB&Q mainline in the 60's and 70's but I did live on the Rock Island in Corydon.  I spent a lot of time watching the trains go by there at all hours.  I remember seeing the Mars Lights or the Oscitrol lights on their F units (may have been E units - did not know the difference when I was young).  I loved watching them when it was a bit hazy and you could see the lights moving.  My sister who occasionally went with me called them "crazy lights".
