I do not have a steam era timetable to check. But looking at track diagrams for the branch, it would appear that being only 12.9 miles from Minnekahta, no tank was built at Hot Springs to accommodate what , operationally, might be considered a switching move on a long spur.  This is pure speculation on my part. Perhaps someone with ETTs to consult could give a more definitive reply.  Jim Sandrin
