Hello Chris: Here are some observations concerning GP30s as Q motors. The center fan over the radiators is about 4 inches taller than the 36 inch fans on earlier Geeps or F-units. It is also identical to the middle radiator fan on the early GP35s. As for replacement fans, Cannon made replacements but these have not been available for a while. Plano makes etched grills and fan blades that can enhance the original housings. I personally think that plastic handrails are the worst and almost any replacement stanchion with wire railings would be better. Also, Athearn makes a good Leslie S-2 horn in brass and a vastly improved replacement Blomberg truck side frame I assume you are aware of BRHS bulletin #52 focussing on the Q GP30s. One error from said Bulletin, the second order of units, 970-977, had the rear sandfiller on the prow of the high hood, not below the right number board as on the P2K version.
