I misspoke. The NCL RPO-Dorm started being switched out in St. Paul around 1964. It only ran St. Paul- Seattle after that.

The storage mail cars ran through as well once the Milwaukee stopped handling it St. Paul to Chicago. I don't have that date handy. The NP RPO always ran through since it also contained the crew dorms. However, it was not staffed St. Paul-Chicago. Even with the loss of the mail routes, the NP RPO-Dorms continued to run on the NCL into the BN era due to the crew dorms. If it wasn't on the train, the crew would have been accommodated elsewhere on the train or in a dedicated substitute car.

The first was taken on 10-9-1950, the second on 6-7-1964 and the third on 9-13-1965. There are others showing the mail car in consist, usually behind the baggage car. The are also several photos of the North Coast Limited with an NP RPO mail car in consist on the Q. In photos taken in 1967 and later, the mail car appears to have been eliminated.
