I remember meeting Maury here in Denver in the summer of 1962 on one of the Illini club's "Journey to Yesterday" trips from Chicago to Denver and then down to Durango to ride the Silverton Train. I was quite a passenger car fan at the time, we (Intermountain
Chapter NRHS) having recently acquired office car 96 from the Burlington, and Maury showed me through the Chief Illini (as Inglehome had been renamed) and also the privately owned sleeper Joaquin Miller. He was quite a passenger car fan himself.

The president of Illini Railroad Club was a gentleman named Maury Klebolt. He was a student at the University of Illinois after serving in the Koran War. While at U of I, he formed Illini Railroad Club, originally with an interest in trolley cars. Several Illinois
Terminal cars at IRM in Union, IL survive because of his efforts. The Pullman observation, Inglehome, also at IRM, was purchased by Mr. Klebolt and the IRRC for fan trip use. After purchase, it was paint U of I orange and blue and was seen on most Illini fan
trips after about 1960. When the fan trips were over and Maury had graduated, he moved to San Francisco where he owned a travel agency. There, he became involved with streetcars from all over the world and convinced the SF Muni to operate them. His efforts
eventually led to the creation of the historic F line that operates along Market Street and the Embarcadero with PCC and other old classic street car models. Maury died suddenly of a heart attack in 1988. He was 58 at the time and it was his second massive
heart attack.
