The GN trains between Billings and Great Falls were also numbered 43 & 42, and good connections were made in Great Falls with GN trains 235 & 236 to and from Helena and Butte.

Train 43 in 1951 left Kansas City at 6:30 pm arriving St. Joseph at 8:05 pm. Bus connection at Beverly for Leavenworth. Motorcar connection at Armour for Atchison. Train 43 then ran via Table Rock to Lincoln. Train only had RPO, Baggage-Mail, Coaches and a 12-1 sleeper KC to Alliance. Kansas City Union Station is shown as a meal stop. At Lincoln, Baggage-Mail cars from Omaha along with a  10 Section-2 Compartments-1 Drawing Room sleeper Omaha to Glacier Park (or Shelby MT depending on time of year) and a 10 section-2 Double Bedroom-1 Compartment sleeper Omaha to Casper. These were transferred from the westbound Coloradan. A dining car was also added for Lincoln to Billings.

This train connected with the NP's North Coast Limited at Billings and the GN's Western Star at Great Falls.

John f. Strauss Jr.'s book Burlington Route Passenger Trains - Volume 2 has more information on this train including an actual consist from August 1952 on pages 66 and 67 of the book.

Train 42 was the opposite return trip.

By this time, the trains had lost their name which was the Adventureland.

In the public time table of January-April 1951, there were trains 3 and 4:
Train 3, the Ak-Sar-Ben departing Chicago 10.00 PM, arriving at Lincoln 9.55 AM (returning Ak-Sar-Ben was train number 30).
Train 4, a train with no name, departing Galesburg 6.50 AM, arriving at Chicago 11.20 except Sundays (possibly the returning service of train 9)

A mystery for me is train 43, from Kansas, via Lincoln and Alliance, to Billings. ¿It is the same train all the way (even admitting changes of locomotives and taking or leaving cars at intermediate stations)?
Best wishes,
Mario
