In the public time table of January-April 1951, there were trains 3 and 4:

Train 3, the Ak-Sar-Ben departing Chicago 10.00 PM, arriving at Lincoln 9.55 AM (returning Ak-Sar-Ben was train number 30).

Train 4, a train with no name, departing Galesburg 6.50 AM, arriving at Chicago 11.20 except Sundays (possibly the returning service of train 9)

A mystery for me is train 43, from Kansas, via Lincoln and Alliance, to Billings. ¿It is the same train all the way (even admitting changes of locomotives and taking or leaving cars at intermediate stations)?
