I found the Clarinda tank after I sent the email about the silver suggestion I received. Based upon the Clarinda tank, I think it was white, but based upon Leo’s comment, it may have been the same color used on F units, which was nearly white when new. I’ve decided to paint mine white with a few drops of dark gray to tone it down.

I should point out the drawings I referenced all date from the1910’s so I don’t know when they started using black.

The silver tanks I would guess to date from when they started painting company service cars silver.
