If you go to the Flickr section in the BRHS Members only page there are a few pictures of the S-2 showing the same illusion of light reflecting off the vents.

And while on the subject of S-2 paint schemes, the body of 9300 shown in the attached builder’s photo appears to be very pale compared with the background of the Herald, although they are both supposed to be black.
