The "old timers" i.e. the men who started before WW1, used talk about the "bobbers" used on the Beardstown Division, when the "D-bills" were used in road service. They reduced the overall weight of the train (and they were used on short runs). After the M-1s and M-2s came, they were not needed, any longer!
