I believe #4960 was in Savanna and used to ferry trains thru the high water that the diesels couldn't handle due to their traction motors. I don't know if #4960
was already there or sent from Aurora to help with the floods. Jim Boyd wrote about trying to chase flood detours in Railfan and Railroad magazine and agonizing over whether to head to Savanna or head somewhere on the CGW or Milwaukee Road in Northern Illinois
to catch detours... he regretted not going to Savanna since according to him the only person that got the shots of #4960 wading in Savanna was the local newspaper photographer.
I've also read that during one of those floods a man named Lon Coone owned the Illinois Central 2-8-0 that is at Steamtown and it was being stored in Clinton I think.
It was fired up as well to switch cars in the floodwaters to keep the corn processing facilities going.
1965 was the year the levee across from Burlington, IA gave way and the water going through a RR underpass took out I want to say three
hundred yards of Q mainline.

In the "Trains" coverage there is a shot of it with the "Builder/NCL".
