Tom and List,

The big flood was definitely 1965, with CB&Q detours on MILW covered in "Trains".   Not to say there couldn't have been a reroute in 1966. 

As the water rose but they were still trying to use the CB&Q, for a day or two a steam loco on display at Lacrosse I think was put into service, ferrying trains a short distance over trackage with water almost to rail heads that diesels couldn't negotiate.   In the "Trains" coverage there is a shot of it with the "Builder/NCL".

That's what I figured, but needed someone to confirm. Strauss's Burlington Route Passenger Trains Vol. 3 has photos from the 1965 flood on pages 34 and 35 of the combined EB/NCL/TCZ on MILW trackage, including a photo at Duplainville, WI on April 17, 1965. Wonder if the slide on eBay was actually April 1965 instead of April 1966?
