Pete - I vaguely recall that the Q burned and scrapped worn out MOW equipment at Lincoln, but I've never seen an image of steam power being cut-up there. Never say never, but if they did it was a long time ago. I agree, Hol is the expert on this subject.

Here's the link to the image you mention:

My educated opinion is that No. 5358 was stored without tender and was shoved into "hard" by a gondola being placed for cinder loading. The force drove the gon into the locomotive beneath the cab and pushed the pilot into the facing tender with damages shown. The locomotive was so much scrap afterwards....

The Corbin Book reports that No. 5358 was sold for scrap in April 1954, so the image would date to late 1953 or early 1954. It's tender probably was saved for MOW use. Best Regards - Louis

I don't recall any engines being scrapped at Lincoln either by a "commercial yard" or by the Q...Hol is usually absolutely correct but.., I haven't seen the photo you guys are discussing, but I have no memory of ever seeing an engine scrapped at Lincoln either commercial or by the Q.  I've been around Lincoln since Sept 1954 and I just don't recall seeing any cutting being done here.

BTW..I saw no link or reference as to how to see whatever photo it is you guys are discussing.

Pete

Can't answer the second one, but the first photo is at Lincoln in about 1952.

Quite a number of new Q steam photos on eBay.

1)Take a look at item 122162738790, my first thought was the photo was taken the Eola Reclamation plant given the locos tenderness condition along with being shoved against an ancient gon. And also the overhead crane. But there are too many tracks as the scrap dock only had two. Can anyone identify the location ?

2) look at item 322281011101,where would this have been used ? Shops had set hours, train and engine crews had assigned start times.....
