I've narrowed down the timeframe for the removal of the extensions of the delivery chutes of the Mendota coaling station to between September 1961 and April 1, 1962.  See the two attached views.

Hol, Tom -

The double-header trip was April 1, 1962 and the location is definitely, MENDOTA.  I know because I rode the trip and part of the "April Fools" agenda was a freezing blizzard!  Trip went via Denrock to Savanna and return via the C&I with just the 5632, as I recall.  The 1959 with the oil-burner stopped at the Mendota coal chute I believe was a round tripper to Galesburg on Sunday, April 5th.
