Rupert - OK, thanks. At least Jan's image provides a good three-quarter front and size view of the unusual winged headlight. I would say the back-up light had to be the same shape and size. Perhaps, the image you speak of will eventually appear on this Group. Merry Christmas - Louis

No, that wasn’t the photo I was referring to – “mine” was taken from the rear looking forward.

Rupert - I can now answer my own question. The image you describe is on Jan Kohl's web site:

I'm certainly NOT an expert on Milwaukee Road steam locomotives, but to me this headlight just doesn't "look" Milwaukee. Charlie, do you concur?

I now wonder if this unusual winged headlight was a one-of-a-kind design from some company trying to sell headlights to the Q, or was designed by the Q itself as an experiment?  Best Regards - Louis

There was a three-quarter view photo of 1710 on eBay on 28 November 2014, taken from behind the tender, showing the two winged lights.  Perhaps if the purchaser is a member of the group, the photo could be shared with the group.

Charlie - If true, it deepens the mystery.... How could a Q 0-6-0 end-up with Milwaukee Road head and back-up lights? If we had a head-on or even a three-quarters view of 1710, rather than the side view shown, it might show the "squared-off" front end that the Milwaukee Road headlights with oversized wings had. There's got to be a story here! Thanks and best regards - Louis
