I was thinking maybe because of the curves coming into town to make order boards more visible, but no, that doesn’t work because at Lisle the tracks curve in from the SE and at Naperville it’s from the NE.

Is there anything about Lisle and Hinsdale that prevented the stations being built on the south side or is there any indication as to why they were on the north side of the tracks?  Would the location of the station relate to whether the bulk of the local population was living on the north or south sides of the track, road access, land availability or some other reason?

some CB&Q content….
….in my study of early Chicago-Aurora stations I found two stations that were originally built on the north side of the tracks…. Lisle was always on the North side of the Tracks and Hinsdale was originally North of the tracks.      Also, Downers Grove and Riverside both had their stations in the middle of passing tracks and end of double track.
