Louis Your2nd post which I hadn't read confirms what I just wrote...The I&Stl..connected with the Santa Fe at Elmer, MO and there was another town, I think beyond that where the line ended..The other town name escapes me now, but It's on my 1938 timetable which is downstairs and I don't have the inclination to go down there now.

Group - I can now answer my own question after a little research on the Internet. Novinger, MO, was on the Quincy Omaha & Kansas City that became part of the Q. Novinger was at the junction of the QO&KC and the Iowa & St. Louis RRs. So, that Q gondola was on-line rather than off-line. Best Regards - Louis

Group - Here's an interesting image (inserted and attached) of Q steel gondola 173724 spotted to load coal with other steel and wood gondolas on a siding at the Rombauer Mine No. 2 in Novinger, MO, during 1918:
