Hi All,
I've been thinking about the direction the Track
Oiling (speeder vs motor car) thread went, and I, like some others on the
list who have emailed me directly, am concerned. I understand the desire
for accurate terminology when it comes to recording historical
railroading, but, there are several terms that "modern" modelers &
railfans have coined to describe, clarify, differentiate pieces if
equipment, paint schemes, etc. Some of these terms have come
from other railroads, for example the term "speeder" was used on the old
Frisco and possibly others. I have always strived to keep the
CBQ list a place that is "safe" for discussions and sharing interest in the
CB&Q for old heads as well as modelers and railfans who are trying to
learn about "real" railroading. One groups is no better, or worse than
the other...we all have our preferences, but to negatively call out a person,
or a group of people for using a term that may not be 100% historically
accurate for the Q, is not a behavior I want to see perpetuated on this
list. Courtesy, tolerence and politely offering correcting is
accepted.
Best regards,
Dave Lotz
