Wait ? you're saying that after 1916 there were no more truss rod RPOs in US 
trains? What about baggage-mail or passenger-baggage-mail combines? I'm sure 
I've seen photos from the 1920s or even later showing secondary or branchline 
trains with such cars - but maybe they had steel reinforcing rods added?

I'm also interested to learn there were CB&I water tanks installed so early on 
the Q. I'd always assumed they were a post-WWI innovation.
