Ken, the Keokuk tower had a conical roof, so there was some variation.
I'm not sure when that tower was installed though.

Rupert,

I have copies of Q drawings of the standard 50,000, 80,000 and 100,000 gallon tanks. The 50,000 gallon tank is dated 1912.
The 80,000 gallon tank is dated 1923 and the 100,000 gallon tank is dated 1924.

There are some differences from your photo, the drawings show a conical bottom and a rounded roof.
So your tank is either nonstandard or a different standard I don't have. It also might predate my drawings.

Does anyone know when steel tanks such as the attached were first built.  I’m trying to date a photo taken at Anselmo, Ne.
