Yes, judging from the photos I've seen (check out v.1 of Mike Spoor's color
books for a sample) the CB&I tanks used different combinations of roof (conical
or round), bottom (conical or round) and standpipe (conical or cylindrical), as
well as varying in overall height. There was even one in the Black Hills
adapted with a wooden frost box covering! I believe most or all of the ones in
Mike's book (and I think most of those I've seen in other photos elsewhere)
were 100,000 gallon tanks. It would be interesting to know whether these tank
profile variations are just random or whether they tell us something about
their date of construction or anything else.
