It was interesting - the paper seemed to have a regular "railroad section" full of a wide variety of news: personal items on some comductors, shipping info, Aurora Shop news(what cars were built that week, who was leaving, etc), a lot of day-to-day gossip. People forget just how much the Q was such an integral and essential part of Aurora.

Search under Joliet,Rockford and Northern. Basically it's the line from Paw Paw to Burgess Jct,Sheridan Jct,Catherine(all the same place, just different names.
It's what we all referred to as the Baker Main. In a future BB you'll see a plat map of Earlville where the JRN crosses the Denver main east of downtown Earlville and then crosses the CNW branch north of town;long before the switches were installed for trackage rights on the CNW

Looking through the Aurora Beacon Feb 18, 1881, I noticed it mentioned the CBQ was surveying a line for either Mendota or Earlville to Sheridan to Joliet. Anyone know anything about this?
