That smell of burnt weed juice, sand dust and diesel smoke brings back memories of my days on the Fairmont-Hildreth local coming east with full tonnage out of the Blue River valley just west of Edgar, NE. We would be down to a walk in throttle 8 with a string of 40' boxcars of wheat...came close, but never had to double.

Also the somewhat sickening smell of tankage cars and rendering plants we had to switch. Then there was the wonderful aroma of what I would describe as burnt corn at the Hiram Walker distillery in Peoria. Ugg! Archie
