Thanks to all for sharing your stories! I'm finding them to be enjoyable and fascinating reading. Please keep it up. My dad was a Q freight agent in the 50s, a Korean war vet, among other interesting careers. But, alas, he wasn't a talker and never shared many stories with me. In the last few years a friend of mine inspired me to contact some former Rock Island officials on a different project I have been working on. Since then I have been talking as many former RI executives that will talk with me. I'm trying to get thier stories before they're gone. Pete H, you unwittingly started my list long ago when you introduced me to Mr. Hoenig for the RITS OKC convention. Getting these old
time railroader's stories and knowledge down on paper or tape (or would that be electrons?) is important to help preserve the history of railroading. Recently some one mentioned how will future generations research today's rr's, with all the computerization and emails. I agree. Looking at the stacks of memos and documents I've amassed, I couldn't imagine trying to research one of the corporations of today. Thanks! Jeff Jeff Worones Seattle WA
