Pete
Don't confuse seniority district with pool assignments. For example, on the Beardstown Division there was one seniority list for the whole division, for each craft in train service i.e. one for engineers, one for firemen, one for trainmen and one for conductors.  The yardmen had one for each yard until all the yard's lists on the division were combined and than later combined with the trainmen list. There several pools. There was a Beardstown pool that worked Beardstown to Centralia and Beardstown to Galesburg. There was a Beardstown to St. Louis pool. There were also passenger pools that worked the St. Louis and Galesburg lines out of Beardstown (trains 11&12 to Centralia had no pool but were assigned jobs). The Centralia to Paducah pool worked the Coal Fields and Paducah trains (again trains 11&12 to Herrin were assigned jobs). It also had the North St. Louis trains but with a twist the Centralia men had two out of three turns on the St. Louis trains with the other turns going to Hannibal Division crews out of North St. Louis except East St.Louis trains belonged to Centralia crews alone. There was also an "outlying terminal" at Herrin Junction that had engine crews in a pool and assigned train crews to the Metropolis local. Anybody could bid on these assignments, division wide except when yardmen had their seniority restricted to their own yards. The brotherhoods had lodges at Beardstown and Centralia. The Herrin Junction men belonged at Centralia as did the switchmen at all the yards(except Beardstown). When you moved from one terminal to another, you had to change lodges. The Beardstown lodges had jurisdiction all the way to Centralia. This was establihed when the Q bought the "Jax Line".
